LISTING DESCRIPTION BELOW IN 1ST PARAGRAPH OF YELLOW TEXT.   *** RARE ANTIQUE FRENCH DEPOSE BROOCH, MINT CONDITION AND PAINTING SIGNED BY ARTIST MANLINA! **** *************************** ITEM DESCRIPTION BELOW: This is a very beautiful and rare antique brooch which is stamped on the back of the case "MADE IN FRANCE DEPOSE" and the PAINTING ON FRONT signed in the bottom right corner I believe artists signature is "MANLINA".   Postage for Insured Priority Mail in US is $8.05.  This is most definitely a wonderful old brooch and is in MINT CONDITION and listed with NO RESERVE. I've had it cleaned in it's entirety and had the picture removed and mounts cleaned as well as the bubble glass covering cleaned. I'm estimating vintage is turn of century to 1920's Art Deco. It measures approx. 1.5" (4 cm) wide by 2" (5 cm) tall and is ALL ORIGINAL. The picture is that of a Parisian Moulin Rouge Can Can dancing girl holding a basket that reads "PARIS" handpainted on the front of the basket then off to the background left of the basket as you are facing it features the Eiffel Tower. It looks like painted above the basket is a red heart. The actual picture appears to be handpainted all on celluloid (not ivory wafer) and features very fine white woven fabric dress with blue and red lines and lace edge border while her blouse is an intricate minutely (crocheted?) lace like top. Two areas of the dress feature a four red dot floral type of motiff design handpainted on. If you look at the 3rd photo from the top that is the back of the celluloid where you can see the fabric and how it was fastened to the celluloid and tied together threads to the backside of the celluloid. The parisian can can girl has golden blonde yellow painted hair, blue & red & green dots for flower motiff painting in her hair on side above "her left ear area", handpainted details and red lips. Certainly a wonderful brooch and seldom if never found. The Black basket she is carrying appears to be celluoid cut out to the shape of the basket and painted white details and is mounted over the overall area as if she is holding it in her "right" arm. So delicate and so wonderful and again IN MINT CONDITION. The bubble glass appears to be handblown and is very clean and free of any damages. The brass mount (case) is perfect with twisted rope edging design all around the circumference. The back is brass and stamped bottom center area (MADE IN FRANCE DEPOSE). The backing has attached pin clasp with a locking push tip end over the pointed tip of the pin to secure the pin clasp so it will not fall off when worn. The brass backing is set into the overall framing with four areas where edging is pushed to secure the backing from falling from the mount. This is very detailed with minute workmanship and detail not only in the subject matter of this piece but also the mount is great workmanship. If you collect French Memorabilia or Antique Brooches or Jewelry this is a MUST HAVE for your collection and a one of a kind piece (handmade) more than likely you will never find another one!
