It was inspired by the geometrical forms of the 1920s and 30s. The Art Deco movement takes its name from the 1925 Exposition Internationale de Arts Decoratifs et Industriels Modernes held in Paris, and was a reaction against the earlier excessive of Art Nouveau. The size of this WORKING time piece is 2-1/4 inches by 1-1/8”. It has a modern, quartz movement with a brand new battery. The body is sterling silver with inlaid black stone (onyx?) or perhaps is enamel, I can’t tell. The marcasite I suspect to be faux. The face of the watch has a slight mother-of-pearl look and has Roman numerals. The clasp is a roller type. Altogether the design screams Art Deco high fashion, shades of Cartier and Tiffany.
